Q.1.I have a valid India visa on an old passport that has been renewed or replaced. Can I travel to India with both passports, or should I apply for a new visa?
-
Kindly note, it is optional to transfer your valid visa to a new passport.
The validity of an existing visa does not expire if you acquire a new passport (if old passport has expired or is damaged), as long as your personal particulars and nationality have not changed. You, as the visa holder can travel carrying your old passport with a valid Indian visa along with your new passport.
Applicants are requested to note that they will no longer be able to apply for Transfer of Visa as the same has been removed from government of Indian website. If you already have an Indian visa in your old passport then you are requested to:- Carry your old passport (with the Indian Visa) and new valid passport. OR
- Apply for Regular visa as Transfer of Visa category has been removed.
