Tourist Visa is issued to people who wish to visit India for tourist purposes i.e. Recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives etc .The visa is non- extendable and non convertible. No other activity is permissible on Tourist visa.

5 year and 10 year Tourist visas are available only to US citizens under a bilateral arrangement.

All non-US passport holders are only eligible for up to a Six (6) month Tourist visa.

No Permit is needed if the visa holder is also travelling to neighbouring countries of India for tourism purpose on the same itinerary as long as the trip follows the itinerary exactly. The visa holder must carry a copy of the itinerary to show the Immigration Officer.

Transfer of visa to a new passport is not mandatory and the applicant can travel to India with old passport having Indian visa, along with new current passport

Important Note for Pakistani Nationals :
Pakistani citizen can not apply for Tourist Visa. If you are a Pakistani National or a foreigner of Pakistani origin, you are required to submit your application in person at the CKGS Application Center. The facility of third party filling of visa application stands withdrawn.

  1. The Embassy / Consulates reserve the right to seek additional documentation at their discretion and the same will be communicated to the applicant by CKGS.

  2. Applicants must carefully review the time period of visa that they seek and must note and understand that Visa is not a matter of right and hence the Embassy / Consulates could deny the visa if not found eligible / or does not have adequate supporting documentation or grant a visa for a period lesser than what has been requested in the application and what the applicant has paid for. There shall be no clarifications or enquiries in this regard and the decision of the Consulate will be final and binding.

  1. Please note Biometrics service is applicable only to the walk-ins applicants from Atlanta at present.
  2. "Visa duration is applicable from the date of visa issue" Under visa section.
  3. Pakistani Applicant: Any Applicant who was a Pakistani national, or parents or Grandparents were born in Pakistan and wish to travel to India, need to submit application in person or by Post. Applications cannot be submitted through Travel Agents.

  • STEP 1 Online Application
    Complete the Online Indian Visa Application Form (IVFRT)

    All applicants are requested to exercise due care while filing the Online Indian Visa Application Form (IVFRT). In case of any mistakes, Applicants are requested to fill the form again.

    Print and sign the Application form.
  • STEP 2 Photographs and Documents
    Paste the photograph as per the specification.

  • STEP 4 Identify Jurisdiction and Service Centers
    Identify consular jurisdiction and Application Center based on your present location. Application must be sent to the CKGS Application Center of area of your jurisdiction. It must NOT be sent to the Indian Embassy / Consulates.
  • STEP 5 Book My Appointment Online
    Book online appointment for submission of the documents.

    Visit CKGS Application Center as per your jurisdiction only at the date and time of the appointment. 
  • STEP 6 Submit Your Application

    Visit CKGS Application Center as per your jurisdiction only at the date and time of the appointment along with the Visa application, Original passport, required fee, required documents and Print-out of the filled CKGS Order Form to submit your application and start of processing.

    Send the application package to the CKGS Application Center as per your jurisdiction along with the Visa application, Original passport, required fee, required documents and Print-out of the filled CKGS Order Form to submit your application and start of processing.

    Please make sure to paste the shipping label containing the address of the respective CKGS Application Centers of the jurisdiction on the postal package.

    No of applications Prepaid Self Addressed Traceable Envelope Note : If there is a group / family of four applicants and applying for the same service (only Visa or only OCI) applicants can send 1 prepaid return envelope but if they are applying for different services then they need to send different return prepaid envelopes. In 1 envelope we can send only 4 passports; if there are more than four passports we require separate envelopes.

    Prepaid Envelope provided for return of the passport: Applicants are requested to utilize FedEX as preferred mode of return shipment.

    At this time all CKGS Application Center, USA locations, are unable to use manual hand written labels from any courier. Please provide a computer generated label from the courier website or retail store with your postal application.

    The prepaid envelope provided for return of the passport after processing must have the same address as given on the proof of address.

    Applicants must not provide a handwritten or manual FedEX air bill. Airbills with credit card information, handwritten airbills or blank airbills with information typed in cannot be used by CKGS office. All such passports will be held back in CKGS office and may lead to delays. CKGS strongly recommends using a traceable airbill from FedEX. CKGS also recommends that return shipping package is insured.

    Please specify department name outside of the envelope. For Example:- VISA Applicants to mention VISA.

    Please allow 7 – 10 days for processing of your application and the status to be visible on the website once the application is received at the CKGS office.

    Note:
    APPLICANTS SENDING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENT / S AGAINST AN APPLICATION PENDING WITH CKGS ORIGINALLY DUE TO LACK OF SUFFICIENT DOCUMENTS MUST WRITE ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS AND DEPARTMENT NAME OUTSIDE THE PACKAGE ENVELOPE ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL ORDER FORM NUMBER.

    Due to bad weather conditions and for the protection of your documents please enclose your application in a plastic, before shipping it across to us. It would prevent your important documents from getting wet.

    DO NOT BOOK YOUR TICKETS UNTIL YOUR VISA IS IN YOUR HAND.There are no Expedited or Emergency Services for PIO and PIO Endorsement. For any Imminent travel please apply for a Visa.

In case of a lost / misplaced / stolen passport, the liability of CKGS is limited to US $ 195 or the actual cost of reissuance of passport whichever is less. The amount is based on US State Government’s website. CKGS and its Group Companies or associates shall not be held responsible for any financial charges or loss/damage of any kind whatsoever.

Important: If applying for Visa and Renunciation, OCI and Renunciation, PIO and Renunciation, Please use same envelope (one envelope only) to send you postal applications.

  1. Online Visa Application Form : Online Visa Application Form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

    Instructions:
    1. We strongly recommend you to download & study the Sample Online Visa Application Form before filling the actual Online Visa Application Form
    2. The Application Form should be printed on 2 separate sheet of paper, no front to back print out will be accepted. 

      Note: Please make sure that the Application Form prints completely with the port of entry and exit completely printed at the bottom as well as the bar code.
    3. Make Sure you have filled the Application Form correctly otherwise it will not be accepted, as CKGS are not allowed to modify any details. 

      Note: The address for the reference in India must be complete with the phone number, city, sector, street, and six digit pin code. If staying at a hotel include the complete address and phone number of the hotel as it appears on their website.
    4. DO NOT USE SPECIAL CHARACTERS i.e. ,$#(&)etc and use SPACE BAR instead

  2. CKGS Order Form : Fill the CKGS Online Order Form and enclose the print out.

  3. Additional Particular Form: Fill the Additional Particular Form and enclose the print out.

  4. Proof of address: All applicants need to submit a photocopy with proof of residence / address that matches the present address on the visa application

    Examples for Address proof : State Issued Identity cards i.e. Valid driving license, Utility Bills for water, Gas, Electric, Sewage, copy of valid lease, with signature of Landlord AND tenant to be provided. Do not cut any document to smaller size like Driving size, passport copy.

    Note: The following documents are not considered as address proof.
    1. Cell phone bill, credit card Statement, bank Statement, cable bill, insurance forms.
    2. The address cannot include a P.O. Box.

    Note: Please do not submit the originals as CKGS is not responsible for any loss.

  5. Photograph: One recent color passport size 2 inches by 2 inches (2"x2") photo on glossy photo paper, showing full frontal view of the applicants face against a white background to be pasted on the application form. Photograph should not be stapled, paper clips are fine. 

    Note: The photo requirements are very strict.

  6. Applicant holding Dual Citizenship : Applicants who have dual citizenship with the US and another country must apply on their US passport, if living in the US except for applicants who hold dual citizenship with Pakistan. Pakistani citizens who have also acquired US citizenship must apply for a visa on their Pakistani passport only.

  7. If there is a name change after or at the time of Naturalization, then Name Change Application, Name Change Deed along with the Court Order for such Name Change must be annexed with the documents.

  8. In case of those applicants who have not obtained their Renunciation Certificate earlier and are now applying for Renunciation along with their Visa Application, the time taken for processing of visa could be 2-3 weeks.

    To facilitate expeditious visa processing, applicants are requested to do the following:

    Visa application with all the completed documents, and the Application Form for Renunciation, are to be sent to the CKGS in one envelope, along with Two (2 Nos.) self-addressed return envelopes - one for returning of passport with visa, and the other for sending the Renunciation Certificate separately later.

    For New York:
    1. Applicants acquired naturalization after 2006 are required to submit their original Indian passport.
    2. Applicants acquired naturalization after 2004 are required to submit copy of their naturalization certificate.

    For Houston:
    In case of minors-Both parents signatures are required on application form & copy of driver license / Indian passport is required for both parents.

    For Chicago Jurisdiction : 
    All applicants who are applying for visa service and are born outside India need to provide passport copy or any other related documents showing parent place of birth as India if parents are born in India. This additional documents are required by Chicago Consulate for easy and quick processing.

For minors below 18 years of age

Parental Authorization Form For Minors: Fill the Parental Authorization Form for Minors and enclose the print out

  1. Minor's birth certificate copy or any government issued document which shows parents name, date of birth and nationality. Certain restrictions apply, please see bullet points below.
    1. US Citizen: Only birth certificates are accepted for minor applicants born in the US.
    2. Born Abroad certificate: If the applicant is born abroad as a United States citizen, a copy of the Born Abroad certificate issued by the state department must be presented with application.
    3. Indian Born: Those born in India can use their birth certificate, old Indian passport or school leaving certificate.
    4. All Others Citizens: The minor applicant not born in the US or India should submit a birth certificate or any government document from the country of origin that has parents name, date of birth and nationality. The documents must be translated into English and notarized.
  2. Children above 5 years of age must print their name in the signature box under their photograph on the first page of application.

    Note: If the minor above the age of 5 cannot sign or print his/her name due to medical reasons, a thumb print must be placed in the signature box. Applications without the minor’s thumbprint or printed name in the signature box will not be accepted. A Parent cannot sign in the signature box below the picture for their child.

    Signature (Children below 5 years):
    1. For children who are too young to sign their own name, a thumb impression should be made in the boxes- on Page 1 under the Picture and in the 2 boxes on Page 3.
    2. The parents should sign on the lines for designated for Father and Mother.
    3. Father must sign under the Declaration section on top of Page.
    4. Minor children who are old enough to write their own names should sign instead of using a thumb impression.
    5. DO NOT use a thumb impression and sign in the same box. All thumbprints should be in black or blue ink.

  3. A copy of the vital page(s) containing the picture and signature page of both parents signed passports must be submitted with a minor’s application.

  4. Visa applications for minors should contain both parent's signatures, on the 2nd page only. Minors do not sign the second page of the application.

    The 2nd page of the application must be duly notarized with a notary stamp and seal, if the application is being mailed to a CKGS Application Center, or both parents are unable to be present while submitting the application in person. Applications without both parent's signatures will not be accepted.

    Note: If you are a single parent, a copy of court document(s) proving you have legal and physical custody of the child must be submitted with the child’s application.
  5. In case of a single parent applying visa for his / her child, the following is required apart from the usual documentation:
    1. Birth certificate of child, stating both parents name.
    2. If the birth certificate mentions both parents name then, each parent’s photo ID and signature is required.
    3. If the birth certificate mentions single parent’s name then only single parent’s photo ID and signature is required.
    4. If both parents are named on the birth certificate and are legally separated, then proof of legal separation is required. Additionally, the single parent has to obtain a court order from USA stating that the parent is authorized to take the child to India and mentioning the duration of visit. This is a mandatory requirement if only one parent is signing on the form. The child would be granted visa for the duration mentioned in the court order.

      AND

      Even if the biological parents are legally separated if both the biological parents sign the minor’s application as consent for his travel to India, and also submit their signed photo IDs, visa can be issued to the minor. Step parents are not accepted as legal guardians. If they are to be accepted then a fresh birth certificate is required which mentions the new legal guardians name.
    5. In case of adopted children, a legal guardian certificate is required.
    6. If one of the parents is deceased, then the decease certificate is required.

For Non US Citizens
If you are a non-US citizen, then you must provide a copy of one of the following documents:
  1. Your Permanent Resident Card (both sides)
  2. Employment authorization card or copy of page showing H1/H4, L1/L2, F1/F2, J1/J2 etc.
  3. Applicants who are not citizens / residents of the USA and hold a tourist or other short-term visa for the USA should normally apply for Indian visas in the country of their permanent residence.
All non-US citizens legally resident in the US must fill up the Non US Citizen Form

For Indian Origin
For people of Indian origin applying for a Visa (any category) or OCI, a copy of Renunciation Certificate / Surrender Certificate and a copy of Naturalization certificate (both the documents) is mandatory.

For Applicants applying for OCI and Renunciation together, or Visa and Renunciation together, the supporting documents must be attached separately for both the applications, including the common documents. For example, a copy of Driver’s License should be attached with Visa Application and a copy with Renunciation Application

Condition and Exceptions:
Applicants planning to travel in the following areas in India will need to apply for a special protected / restricted area permit. Arunachal Pradesh, Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Parts of Rajasthan, Sikkim and Parts of Uttarakhand. A completed Protected Area Permit Form is required. Bangladeshi National
For Bangladeshi Passport Holders:
Citizen of Bangladesh are required to fill Special Bangladeshi Form (2 copies with 2 photos)

For Houston Jurisdiction:
US citizen applicants of Bangladesh origin provide
  1. A clear copy of their Naturalization Certificate and a clear copy of last held Bangladesh Passport if the applicant was born in Bangladesh; and
  2. If the US citizen applicant was born in the US, they should provide a clear copy of Naturalization Certificate and clear copy of last held Bangladesh Passport of both parents.

Srilankan National
For Sri Lankan Passport holders / Person of Sri Lankan origin:

Pakistani National
For Pakistani Passport Holders:
  1. The only exception if applicant can prove that they have renounced their Pakistani Citizenship with a copy of their renunciation certificate.
  2. Absence of Pakistani passport or an expired Pakistani passport is not considered proof of renunciation of Pakistani nationality.
  3. If applying on the Pakistani passport it is required to complete the Special Pakistan application, and submit all requirements mention in the application form (4 copies 4 Photograph).
  4. Special Pakistan Application Form
  5. Sponsorship Certificate A Complete Sponsor Certificate Form is required from all Pakistani nationals holding a Pakistani passport. The sponsor must be an Indian citizen living in India.
  6. US citizens of Pakistan origin must provide notarized affidavit that applicant does not hold any other nationality except that of the US is a requirement only for US citizens of Pakistan origin born in the US or for foreign citizens of Pakistan origin born outside Pakistan.
  7. In case of a Pakistan National holding dual citizenship, they are required to apply on their Pakistan Passport mandatorily.
  8. For Naturalized Pakistani Applicants - Required to submit Renunciation certificate OR the receipt of enrolled Renunciation from local Pakistan Consulate.

Nepal and Bhutan National
Applicants of Bhutan and Nepal do not need a visa to enter India.

  • A Processing Service Fee of $17 will be collected by CKGS Application Center per application and it is non-refundable.
  • All the citizens of different nationality except USA nationals will be charged $20 as Reference Fees.

Below Mentioned visa fee for the citizens of countries with special agreement with India. This is applicable to all visas regardless of duration unless notified.



Important Note for Issue of Restricted Area Permit:
  • Ministry of Home Affairs ,Government of India requires aperiod of two months to process RAP permits. Once an applicant applies for RAP he / she will have to wait before the clearance is received from India. Alternatively, the permit may be obtained from the local authorities in India.

Important Notes:
  • In cases where prior reference is required, the processing time is usually 3-5 Business days.
  • Citizen of Czech Republic and Slovak Republic, processing time is a minimum of 21 working days.
  • It is strongly recommended that Non–US citizens apply for the shortest duration available i.e. six months only.
  • Bhutan and Nepal do not need a visa to enter India.
Optional Service package rate in USA. For the comfort of India Visa / OCI / PIO / Renunciation applicants, CKGS USA LLC has introduced the following Value Added Services (VAS) in order to make application procedure easier.

  1. The normal processing for US Citizens born in the US is usually 3-5 Business days from the day application is submitted to the Embassy / Consulate.
  2. Persons of Indian Origin, US citizens who require a reference and all Non-US citizens have a minimum processing time of one to two weeks, and some cases may take longer.

Only for Atlanta
Visa processing time is 5-7 working days. and if visa application is with renunciation consulate will take 30 days

Note:
Please do not purchase non-refundable tickets or reservations until passport are secured and in your possession.

  1. The Processing time mentioned above is a general processing time however this processing time is dependent on various factors and may vary from time to time.
  2. Processing time mentioned above, do not include time taken by courier companies to deliver the passport. Incomplete / Incorrect applications will increase the processing time and applicants will need to comply with any changes in the procedure that may occur during this time.
  3. CKGS Application Center will not be liable for any claims of inconvenience or penalties should applicant need to make changes to their travel plans owing to the delays and / or any inconvenience caused due to any rejections.
